Wahab Riaz, a test cricketer, has taken charge as the Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs to Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi.
Riaz met with Shahid Zaman, the Secretary of Sports, and Mohammad Tariq Qureshi, the Director-General of Sports, at their office in the National Hockey Stadium Lahore. During the meeting, Zaman and Qureshi briefed Riaz about the future plans and upcoming events.
Riaz, who was previously appointed as the Sports Minister in the caretaker government of Punjab, has assured that he will take all possible steps to promote sports in the province. He expressed his commitment to utilizing all available resources and ensuring that all stakeholders are on board. Riaz also encouraged the youth to come forward and participate in various sports activities.

Following the successful conclusion of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 8, in which Riaz represented Peshawar Zalmi under the captaincy of Babar Azam and took 10 wickets in 11 matches, the cricketer has now taken on the role of consultant game. Notably, Riaz is also the highest wicket-taker in PSL history, having taken 113 wickets overall.
