    The President accepted the resignation of Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan

    Supreme Court Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan resigned under Article 179 and 206 of the IPC


    President Arif Alvi accepted the resignation of Supreme Court Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan. Supreme Court Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan resigned under Article 179 and 206 of the Act. 

    The President accepted the resignation of Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan on the recommendation of the Prime Minister. Justice Ejaz-ul-Ahsan sent his written resignation to the President Dr. Arif Alvi yesterday.

    Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan apparently refused to participate in the proceedings of the Supreme Judicial Council meeting against Justice Mazahir Naqvi on Thursday, after which his resignation also came to light. 

    Chairman Qazi Faiz Isa presided over the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court.


    Justice Mansoor Ali Shah attended the Supreme Judicial Council meeting on Thursday evening due to the absence of Justice Ejazul Ahsan. It was told that Justice Ijazul Ahsan was second in the seniority list in the Supreme Court after Justice Tariq and he was supposed to assume the post of Chief Justice in the future. 

    After the resignation of Justice Ejazul Hassan, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will be the next Chief Justice of Pakistan.

    It should be noted here that after the resignation of Justice Ijazul Ahsan, there have been major changes in the Supreme Court, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will be the next Chief Justice of the country, while he and Justice Yahya Afridi have become part of the Supreme Judicial Council. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will take over as the new Chief Justice of the country in October 2024. 

    Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will hold the post of Chief Justice for more than 3 years after assuming the post of Chief Justice in October 2024.
