Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been remanded
Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been remanded to the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for 8 days by the Accountability Court in Police Lines, Islamabad.
The NAB had requested a 14-day physical remand of Imran Khan in the case related to Al-Qadir University Trust. However, the court decided to keep him in custody for 8 days.
During the hearing of the case, Additional Sessions Judge granted the NAB's request for an 8-day physical remand of Imran Khan.
The court ordered NAB to present Imran Khan again in court on May 17.
NAB had requested a 14-day physical remand of Imran Khan, after which the court had adjourned the hearing.
After the adjournment, the proceedings resumed in the Accountability Court in Islamabad, where NAB's Deputy Prosecutor, Mazhar Abbas, Special Prosecutor Rafaqat Mahmood, Prosecutor Sardar Zulqarnain, and Investigation Officer Mian Umar Nadim appeared.
NAB's Deputy Prosecutor stated that arrest warrants were shown to Imran Khan at the time of his arrest.Imran Khan stated in court, "I was presented with the arrest warrants after reaching the NAB office."The Deputy Prosecutor of NAB mentioned that all necessary documents will be provided to Imran Khan's lawyers.Lawyer Khawaja Haris presented his arguments stating that he is discussing the legality of the arrest based on the way Imran Khan was arrested. He argued that the arrest was legally incorrect.
The Deputy Prosecutor of NAB responded, saying that they are discussing a corruption case here. The money was seized by the British National Crime Agency, and the amount was returned to the Pakistani government. The embezzled funds were adjusted with ill-intent alongside a business tycoon.
Khawaja Haris further stated that Al-Qadir Trust is operational, and a building has been constructed on the land. People are availing free education in Al-Qadir Trust. A trustee is a legal person, not a public office holder.
These were the complete arguments presented by Imran Khan's lawyer, Khawaja Haris, after which the Deputy Prosecutor of NAB presented their counterarguments.
"This injection they administer causes a person to die: Imran Khan."
On this occasion, Chairman of PTI, Imran Khan, stated that which record is he not accepting? NAB is saying that we need to gather the records. Whatever money came, it came with the approval of the Cabinet. We have two options: either we agree and the money comes, or if we choose to pursue legal recourse, we lose every case. We have spent 100 million rupees on legal recourse so far. I was taken into custody, glass was broken, they summoned my doctor, they summoned Dr. Faisal. They administer an injection that slowly kills a person. I say that I won't succumb to the tactics of Mussaud Chaudhry.
