The prices of petroleum products have increased in Pakistan

The prices of petroleum products have increased in Pakistan despite a decrease in global oil prices. Famous economist and former spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance, Muzammil Aslam, has criticized the government for this. According to him, after the decrease in global oil prices, petrol should have been at least 20 rupees cheaper and diesel 13 rupees cheaper. He also mentioned that if the government had fulfilled the IMF conditions, petrol could have been as high as 150 rupees per liter. However, the current government has increased the prices of petroleum products despite the significant decrease in global oil prices. The new price of petrol is 272 rupees per liter after a 5 rupee increase, while the price of diesel has increased by 13 rupees to reach 293 rupees per liter. There has been no change in the price of light speed diesel. On the other hand, there has been a significant decrease in the prices of crude oil, gas, and coal in the global market.
