Extremely embarrassing batting performance by Pakistani batsmen in the first match of the historic series against Afghanistan.
In the inaugural match of the historic Pakistan-Afghanistan series, the Pakistani batsmen endured a humiliating performance, failing to even cross the 100-run mark. The team managed a paltry 92 runs, losing 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Imad Wasim emerged as the highest scorer for Pakistan, notching up 18 runs. In the first T20 match of the series, Pakistani skipper Shadab Khan won the toss and chose to bat first. The team included Saim Ayub, Tayyab Tahir, Ehsanullah, Zahid Khan, Abdullah Shafiq, Mohammad Haris, Azam Khan, Imad Wasim, Fahim Ashraf, and Naseem Shah.
Following their impressive performances in the domestic circuit and the recently concluded Pakistan Super League season 8, eight players have earned a place in the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series. This series will provide them with a chance to maintain their form at the international level. While Pakistan and Afghanistan have faced each other in various tournaments, they have never played a full bilateral series against each other.
The first scheduled bilateral series between the two nations was supposed to be held last year but was postponed due to Afghanistan's circumstances. The series was initially meant to feature one-day matches but was changed to T20I format a few months ago.
